Car hire Lanzarote in the Canary Islands in Spain

Lanzarote is different from everything, not just the islands that surround it, but the rest of the planet earth. Its extraordinary landscape looks like from another world and as already stated, it seems that this island has not reached the seventh day of creacción. And in a way that is true, like the other islands of the archipelago is of volcanic origin, but if the volcanoes have recently been felt its fury, in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when there were large volcanic eruptions that devastated a 200 km2 and left the island covered in ash and ash. In any case sometimes beautiful, sometimes eerie, who has seen these landscapes do not ever forget.

But the greatest thing this uniqueness does not represent its landscape but what breed of islanders struggling with patience, intelligence and originality, have been able to boot up the land. Original solutions for the fruit to get scorched earth, with an agriculture that reaches the level of craftsmanship and gives fantastic upland melons, watermelons, figs, tomatoes and onions. Or the impressive and beautiful phenomenon of Geria, succession of miniature craters and cradle of artisanal wineries.
And finally the island of great international significance, the brilliant artist Cesar Manrique, sculptor, architect and environmental designer who created dreamlike landscapes, and spaces of imagination and boundless beauty, not only in harmony and respect for the environment but to boost the maximum. If you visit Lanzarote, we recommend a rental car.

The current capital of Lanzarote, takes its name from the peculiar configuration of its coastline. Formerly, when the capital was Teguise, it was the port. Today we present the traveler as a lively, clean and white. On its port of intense commercial activity, can see two great defensive fortresses, San Gabriel and San Jose, coupled with a continuous history of pirate attacks.
Other interesting monuments are the Castle of San Gabriel, (s. XV), built on an islet off the port and the city joined by a drawbridge, the castle of San Juan, (XVII century), or Castle Hunger, as it was built by Charles III in a time when the threat of attacks had decreased and there should be no reason for it, if it were a crop failure that struck the island. Inside is the International Museum of Contemporary Art, which exhibits works of Cesar Manrique.

TEGUISE

The ancient capital of Lanzarote, which is named after the daughter of Guadarfrá, the last Indian sovereign, is one of the oldest cities in the Canaries. It is situated on a plain burned away from the coast as protection against the many pirate raids. However it was destroyed and burned by what he lost much of its wealth of monuments.
But it has preserved the ancient and noble taste in a town known better times. Today, neatness of his beautiful whitewashed houses and the imposing Santa Barbara Castle, joins his great reputation for producing the finest handmade timples (small 5 string guitar elongated, typical of the Canaries).

LANZAROTE AND LANDSCAPE
Move so easy and convenient rental car in Lanzarote, see our offers on our website.
The island which has so often born and succumbed to the fury of the volcano has incredible scenery, from the most shocking brutality sophistication to paradise, all in a strange and unique atmosphere. Because the island is small, you can easily make an excursion by car for these extraordinary places. We'll start near Arrecife and head north to the south end dela island:

TAHICHE

Escepcional presents a place of simplicity, a vast plain of black volcanic sand, the foot of a mountain and only the bright white in contrast to its picturesque houses. Nearby are the House Honda, deep, narrow galleries of volcanic origin where they lived the Guanches, the ancient inhabitants of the island.

GUATIZA

In its surroundings offers a sea of cactus that is lost in the skyline. This crop really peculiar production aims to conserve valuable natural color, bright red that comes from the millions of insects that live in these plants. (Today the demand decreases by the substitution of other cheaper synthetic).

LA CUEVA DE LOS VERDES

They are a true miracle of nature, part of a network of galleries of volcanic origin, about 7 km, linking the Corona volcano to the sea. It has a ghostly appearance and create strange optical effects, such as found in a pit or an endless tunnel, not really knowing the dimensions of the ground we're treading. These impressions are due to the overwhelming green of the moss covering the illusory shapes of the rocks and the extreme quiet of the flood waters in the cave and reflect like a mirror. And the islanders took advantage of these effects in the past to protect against pirate raids, hiding in those tunnels mysterious and impenetrable.

THE WATER JAMEOS

They are part of the caves of the green, and are located north of the island, coupled with the deep sea secret and underground galleries. They offer a paradise among the whimsical aspect forms the volcanoes that gave over millennia and Cesar Manrique who gave this century. This distinguished artist respect the purity of the environment presented in this universe of color, reflections and lighting, the possibility to enjoy beautiful dance halls, restaurants, bars and pools of clear water and inviting. Among many people in the caves, still live white shrimp, completely blind, very ancient species that lost its pink color and the view over the millennia to adapt to the dark labyrinth of caves.

EL MIRADOR DEL RIO

Rock like a knife or the prow of a giant ship enters the sea. It's so close to the Isla Graciosa, which to this narrow corridor of the sea is called river. Rising about 600 m. overlooking a unique panorama of Lanzarote, Isla Graciosa, fishing desert island, dotted with craters, and profiles of Montaña Clara and Alegranza.

WOULD THE VALLEY

It presents a chilling landscape of deep valleys of volcanic origin, the largest palm grove in the island and a picturesque village with gardens and flowers that spreads like an oasis. His area of 150 km2, with only about 3,000 habiantes offers a sublime peace far from the madding crowd.

THE GERIA

A spectacular landscape of thousands of miniature craters. In this extremely arid land with high winds that erode the land and steal what little juice it possesses, have devised this system of crop farmers. Dig small holes or craters, build a series of small retaining walls to stop erosion of wind, and covered with a layer of volcanic ash, so it retains moisture in the dew of the night, it will be enough juice to feed origin of the exquisite vineyards of Malvasia wine.

THE HERVIDEROS

It takes its name when the sea was boiling because of the volcanoes. Here we come to the wild origins of the earth, when the elements of earth, air, water and fire and as a result joined the most beautiful and bizarre rock formations that erupt violently in a turquoise sea. They are petrified lava of the volcanoes of Timanfaya.

THE GULF

Presented the wild beauty of a lagoon of emerald waters and crystal within a crater eroded by the waves of the sea and separated from it by sandbars black.

SOUTH BEACHES, THE MOST FAMOUS OF THE ISLAND

If you walk the beaches at your pace, we recommend a rental car in Lanzarote.

Fine sand, with warm weather in summer and warm in winter and a high number of hours of sunshine a year. They extend from the southern tip of the island until approximately the height of the Airport. Starting from the south, we find:

The islet is a small island just across from the Santa, a beautiful seaside resort. This is only separated by a narrow strip of sea. Tropical landscaping and offers excellent opportunities for underwater fishing and tall, among other sports.

Graciosa Island offers paradise beaches and deserted splendid adventure for those looking to escape the tourist masses.

TEGUISE COAST

Right next to Arrecife, the capital, there are fantastic beaches such as San Jose, the Redoubt and Guacimeta. All this coast offers the most interesting coastal scenery combined with the most luxurious accommodations. In a peculiar dark sand plains of volcanic origin, has installed beautiful gardens and buildings, while respecting the natural environment.

There are two elements that determine the benign climate pollution: the trade winds and the cold Canary current. The wind is almost permanently on the island. In the summer months wind storms can occur from the desert sand or sirocco (also called haze in the Canaries),

GASTRONOMY

Canarian cooking is Mediterranean in style but with its own personality.
The distinct preference of the agricultural and livestock resources and a low reliance on fatty foods.
Aboriginal heritage is a precious gofio, roasted grain flour, mainly wheat and corn, high dietary value. It is taken with milk, fish broth or kneaded in water and salt. Deserve special mention for cheeses, several reputable and awards at national and international competitions.

Asturias-Lanzarote, Lanzarote to see in

I played and holidays ... This time for peace, a change of scenery and a reasonable price, the decision was Lanzarote. As always, and as usual, in Asturias. Asturias no direct flights to Lanzarote and links to Madrid from the company that has a monopoly (Iberia) are entirely astronomical prices, therefore, car rental and travel 4 hours to Barajas airport. The flight from Madrid to Lanzarote last for approximately two and half hours in our case with Air Europa. Ideally, once you get down is to rent a car to get around the island freely, the prices are very cheap and in our case a Citroen C3 car for a week we went out for 77 € for 7 days with full insurance and two drivers Autos Reisen Company. Mention party is that the price of gasoline in the island is not recorded with the same taxes on the peninsula and the liter walks around the 80 cnt 65cnt euro and diesel. The island is pretty small and you can move from side to side very easily, within an hour you runs from one end to the national roads in good condition, no highways.

The environment is very careful and much of the island is protected area so if you want access to certain sites, you will play and pay enough. It is ideal to take the GPS, most of you out of trouble, it is very difficult to orientate yourself but sometimes it's a little confusing. Everything is oriented towards tourism English and German (even have their own radio station in German), but it is Benidorm, as I said everything is clean and no tall buildings, tourism is peaceful and not geared to the party as in other coastal areas, except in the dirty d ecadente Puerto del Carmen, the closest thing to Salou I've seen on the island.

Lanzarote in the Canary Islands

Lanzarote

José Antonio and Charity begins on holiday in Lanzarote to rent a car. They clearly do not want to ride a camel and his first tour of Timanfaya fascinating. It's like a Zen garden of sand and rocks to the horizon expanded. Each volcanic cone is so perfect and is so well individualized in the landscape as a piece of a nativity scene. The black earth seems invisible swept by a court of Buddhist monks. And in this great geological model, every rock, every crevice, every bomb and every lava stream seem prepared in the right place. Sober design, the maximum effect.

The only human footprint is the road and your partner is getting ready to leave. They have so many months without touching the ground, from home to work and work at home!. Already reeling under their feet the volcanic gravel-balsamic whisper when it strikes your eardrums a shrill whistle. From a hill a guard beckons them to retreat. They did the Swedes, but in Timanfaya is forbidden to tread.

While the council does to protect this garden ore tourists. There are no thousands of feet crisscrossing them all, sweep away dunes and lava running down, month after month. The erosive power of the elements!.

Our couple are staying in Costa Teguise. Not bad. In fact Costa Teguise largely respected the rules of the architecture of Lanzarote, low houses, plants and local materials, some integration with the landscape, and provides multiplied ad nauseam everything a tourist needs: beach, hotel, supermarket, kiosk, mailbox, a souvenir shop, pizzeria, restaurant, telephone, hair salon and car hire. But that was it. Want to see a regular street people, a bar with retirees, a place where schoolchildren play?. Then take the car. "Fishing boats, a church, a popular market?. Not here. Eat wrinkled potatoes, cheese majonero, stew, stew canary frangollo, bienmesabe?. What, you say?.

Lanzarote, summer and winter in the Canary Islands

Lanzarote is an island vacation that I could enjoy more in the Canaries. Incredibly, they have year-round sun, fantastic beaches and make it always bustling and cheerful. It really is a small island, having only about 55 miles long. Yet millions of people flock to it every year.

Like all the Canary Islands, Lanzarote is a volcanic island and enjoys low rainfall and a climate throughout the year alone. You can travel to Lanzarote in both summer and winter where the landscape will surprise even retouched by the eruptions produced in the eighteenth century. Some people say their other-worldly landscape. It is best to book a rental car to explore the island Lanzarote.

Lanzarote authorities are very strict when it comes to what can and can not be built, so the local landscape is still a virgin. Most people reach the island by plane to the airport in Arrecife, located south of the island, in Puerto del Carmen.

There is much to see and do in Lanzarote, from the Wine Museum to the Castle of San Jose. This castle now houses a restaurant and a gallery of modern art. It is a kind of surreal, because it has military artifacts throughout the building and its surroundings. Another must see in Lanzarote is the Aquarium, the largest of the Canary Islands, and has all kinds of marine species.

As I mentioned earlier, it is best to rent a car on the island. A car will allow you to move easily and visit the areas where public transport does not arrive. With this freedom will not be difficult to complete visiting all the beaches and coves of this island.

Lanzarote beaches ranging from the splendid black sand beaches of white sand. The black sand is due to the volcanic past of the islands. Puerto del Carmen, or Playa Grande, as it is known, is one of the white sand beaches of the island's busiest, and is located in the town of the same name.

Playa Blanca is located south of the island. In reality these are two manmade beaches, ideal for water sports and for gliding. These two beaches are just over half an hour away from each other.
